Mac user guide
System requirements, installation steps, first-launch permissions, and troubleshooting for Stand Desktop on macOS. Currently available to trial and subscribed customers, with general availability planned for the official launch.
System requirements
- macOS 12 (Monterey) or later. The latest macOS is recommended
- Apple Silicon (M1 or later) and Intel are both supported
- Internet connection (transcription and AI responses run in the cloud)
- Microphone (speaker audio is also used when recording in-person meetings)
Installation steps
- Double-click the downloaded Stand.dmg to open it
- Drag the "Stand Desktop" icon into the "Applications" folder in the window that appears
- Open Stand Desktop from the Applications folder (or Launchpad). On first launch macOS may ask about keychain access — choose "Always Allow"
- Enter your email on the sign-in screen and log in from the link we send you, then follow the in-app prompts to allow Microphone, Screen Recording, and Accessibility
No administrator password is needed to install (macOS may ask for your password when you grant permissions). You can move the dmg to the Trash after installing.
If you see "cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified"
The general release is notarized by Apple, so this warning normally does not appear. If it does, confirm the download came from downloads.yourstand.ai, then open the app as follows.
- Control-click (right-click) "Stand Desktop" in the Applications folder and choose "Open"
- Click "Open" again in the confirmation dialog (it launches normally from then on)
Permissions requested on first launch
Stand captures meeting audio for transcription, so it needs the following macOS permissions. You can grant them from the first-launch guide. To change them later, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and turn on "Stand Desktop".
- Microphone: used to transcribe what you say
- Screen Recording: used to capture the other participants' audio (system audio) from Zoom / Google Meet / Teams. No screen content or video is stored
- Accessibility: used to detect meeting app windows and prompt you to start a session automatically
macOS does not show the dialog again for a permission you denied — turn it on manually in System Settings and restart the app.
Updates
New versions are checked for and downloaded automatically at launch; you choose when to apply them from the in-app prompt (toggle under Settings → General → "Automatic updates"). To update manually, install the latest Stand.dmg over the existing version. Meeting records and settings are kept.
How to uninstall
- Quit Stand Desktop and move "Stand Desktop" from the Applications folder to the Trash
- To also delete meeting records and settings, use Finder → Go → Go to Folder, open ~/Library/Application Support/Stand Desktop, and delete the folder
Step 2 removes all locally stored meeting records, settings, and sign-in data from your Mac. Export any reports you need beforehand.
Troubleshooting
- No transcript appears, or only my own voice is captured
- Microphone or Screen Recording access may be off. Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone / Screen Recording, turn on "Stand Desktop", and restart the app. If only the other participants are missing, check Screen Recording.
- My meeting is not detected automatically
- Accessibility access may be off. Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility and turn on "Stand Desktop". Browser-based meetings can be detected late when the tab is in the background. You can always start a session manually from the Stand window.
- I'm asked for my keychain password every time the app starts
- Stand stores the encryption key for your meeting data in the macOS keychain, so it asks for access on first launch. Choose "Always Allow" and the prompt will not appear again. If you chose "Allow", open Keychain Access, find the "Stand Desktop" item, and set Access Control to always allow.
For IT administrators
The general release is signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple. We publish a SHA-256 checksum for every release as a .sha256 file next to the download URL so you can verify binaries before deployment. Contact sales@numoment.co.jp for the bundle ID (for pre-approving Microphone, Screen Recording, and Accessibility via MDM) or network requirements.
